The Bristol Beacon Young Companies in Residence is a talent development programme for young classical musicians age 8-17. The programme aims to give talented young musicians a world-class music education and provide them with a safe and stimulating environment in which to explore and develop their skills and passions. At Bristol Music Trust, we have a responsibility to enable Bristol Youth Choir and Bristol Youth Orchestra to fulfil their potential, engender a lifelong love of music and widen career aspirations.
The Bristol Youth Orchestra is the city’s flagship instrumental ensemble featuring over 70 of the most talented young musicians in Bristol. The orchestra rehearses weekly and performs the great works of the orchestral repertoire as well as ambitious new commissions at Bristol Beacon. Bristol Youth Orchestra is a member of the Association of British Orchestras and strives to give young musicians a professional orchestral experience and support careers in music.
The Bristol Youth Choir is the city’s flagship choir. Repertoire ranges from classical works to spirituals, folk songs, and lighthearted arrangements of popular songs. The choir performs a year round concert programme at Bristol Beacon and venues across Bristol. Recent concerts include: BBC Music Day live on BBC Radio 3, the One Show, BBC Songs of Praise and the Summer Gala charity concert conducted by John Rutter.
We are delighted to launch two individual giving schemes that will directly support the next stage in developing our Young Companies in Residence. Each giving scheme brings supporters closer to the passion and excitement of our events and offers a unique view of Bristol’s talented and aspiring young musicians.
