Colston Hall Sold- Bristol Corporation to Run Hall

Realising the work of the Colston Hall Company was down to the generosity of private individuals when clearly the duty should be taken by the Corporation of the City, the Company sold the Hall to the Bristol Corporation (now known as Bristol City Council) for £65,000, equivalent to £23million in today’s money. The Corporation was now responsible for the day-to-day running of the venue.

The Lesser Colston Hall became the Little Theatre (now the Lantern), first under the auspices of the Rotary Club and subsequently in the tenancy of The Rapier Players.
