Merry Bristmas! from Bristol Beacon
All at Bristol Beacon would like to wish you a very Merry Bristmas!
To celebrate, our foyer was lit up on Monday 14 December as part of the Bristol ADVENTures camapign.
Bristol ADVENTures, a new arts project, will light up a new building each day with a selection of the most jolly and iconic Christmas lyrics, with a trail of 24 locations complete by Christmas Eve. Lights will be revealed each night from 1-24 December and remain on that building every evening until Christmas Eve.
The campaign encourages people to support the city centre’s retailers, while remembering to be respectful and protective of each other and those working in their stores, and over 100 businesses have come together to make a little bit of magic happen for the city.
Local lighting company, SLX have kindly supplied all the kit and the project also provides opportunities for lighting technicians who have lost work in theatres and productions this year.
Spearheaded by Bristol City Centre BID, with the support of Visit Bristol, you can follow the trail in person and online – click here to follow the trail.
The Visit Bristol website also has plenty of ideas of how to support local businesses this Christmas time – so if you’ve left your shopping to til the last minute (again), click here for inspiration.
For day 14 of Bristol ADVENTures, ‘Look To The Future Now, It’s Only Just Begun’ from Slade’s iconic ‘Merry Xmas Everybody’ was switched on at Bristol Beacon.
The Slade ditty went Platinum in the UK in 1980, a year when Bristol hit the headlines as Bristolian Robin Cousins skated to victory in the Lake Placid, Winter Olympic Games, and they played at the Beacon numerous times including in 1972, 1973 and 1999! Read more facts about the song over at Visit Bristol’s website.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
