Home-Grown Heat artists one year on

We’re proud to be a PRS Foundation Talent Development partner, and along with funding from Help Musicians UK and Arts Council England, we’re investing in the next generation of Bristol talent.

That’s why in April 2017 we launched Multi-Track, our into-industry portal providing professional development opportunities for those involved in the city’s underground music scene, and through the Home-Grown Heat programme began our search for three acts on the rise to offer them a bespoke package of mentorship.

From then on the Bristol-based musicians Splitz P, Charece and Solomon O.B jumped straight into our programme of talent development which included:

  • studio sessions alongside executive producers
  • developing their songwriting
  • building artist portfolios
  • learning the skills of media and marketing in the music industry
  • rehearsing with the guidance of artist mentors Tony Briscoe, Eva Lazarus, Javeon McCarthy, Tanya Lacey and Jenna Knight.

Watch our series of video diaries for an insight into their journeys via the YouTube playlist below.

“I feel empowered, liberated and self-aware. I’m confident for – and intrigued by – the future”

– Splitz P

“Excited! I have a lot to express musically and feel blessed to have this project behind me”

 – Charece

“Great opportunity. A chance to grow. Feeling lucky to be in a position to get closer to my potential”

 – Solomon OB

This week, ahead of Multi-Track’s Industry Take Over conference where the UK music industry’s A-list and cutting edge urban underground talent will collide, our three Home-Grown Heat artists are unleashing their music to the world by releasing previews of their EPs and performing live at Multi-Track Showcase on Saturday 27 October.

Take a listen to Multi-Track’s Home-Grown Heat artists…

Splitz P

Splitz P is a vocalist from the St Pauls area of Bristol. Collaborating from an early age with the likes of Buggsy and Duppy Beatz, he’s been around on the scene for years. Splitz draws inspiration from a diverse spectrum of influences, ranging from Michael Jackson, to Little Richard, to Bob Marley. And these all come together in the rhythm of his voice and the passion of his words.

Bristol-based vocalist Charece was raised on a rich diet of soul and R&B. Influenced in her early years by the likes of Sade, D’Angelo and Erykah Badu, her sound combines these veteran voices with the traditions of hip-hop and jazz.

Solomon O.B

Rapper and poet, Solomon O.B, is a well-known face on the Bristol scene. After making a mark as a skilled and gifted spoken word artist, he’s now switching his focus to music. Solomon is a conceptual storyteller and ideas-driven creator whose influences span from the early works of Plan B, to Grime pioneers like Wiley and Dizzee Rascal, to hip-hop heavyweight, Kendrick Lamar.
