Kamaal Williams – in pictures

Few trios can bring such energy and technical jazz skill to stage as Kamaal Williams, and their sold out performance last Friday in The Lantern was no exception. Also known as producer Henry Wu, and as one half of the critically-acclaimed, but now disbanded, Yussef Kamaal, Williams wielded his unique electronic infused brand of contemporary jazz alongside McKnasty smashing out frantic drum solos and Pete Martin slapping bass with equal velocity. With the crowd pouring out of The Lantern in awe and into the city’s weekend air, it was clear Kamaal Williams had further anchored his reputation as a leading talent in a new generation of London jazz.
