The four members of Starling with their hands outstretched towards the camera.

Formed by four seasoned Bristol jazz improvisers, Starlings “pick up the energy of bands like Lettuce, St Vincent and Soulive” (Bristol 24/7).

With Emma Holbrook on drums, Sophie Stockham on saxophone, Ruth Hammond on keys, and Lisa Cherian on percussion, the electric Latin funk quartet combine their inimitable contemporary jazz and funk expertise to deliver irresistible “brass-powered grooving” (Bristol 24/7).

Starlings know how to bring the energy on stage and they’ve demonstrated this with electrifying sets at the likes of The Canteen and Leftbank.

Presented by the Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival and The Bristol Beacon.
