Young children bang huge drums with large beaters

Bristol Beacon Percussion Sparks is a new open-access ensemble designed to introduce young musicians to collaborative playing in a fun and engaging environment. The group will explore musical fundamentals such as rhythm, dynamics, & communication, while covering a variety of genres from samba to orchestral in their playing.

As well as learning pieces together, Percussion Sparks will play games, listen to music together, and learn to responsively interact with other players using instruments and body percussion.

This is an ideal group for any young musician who is new to ensemble playing, even if they aren’t currently taking instrumental lessons, but it will be particularly beneficial for those who are already learning to play drums. This is an inclusive ensemble fully accessible to all students, including those with special educational needs.

Ability: Beginners +

Ages: 7-12
