On 10 February 2022 we collaborated with Rising Arts Agency to create a night that brought together visual art, poetry, dance and live music to showcase and celebrate young local creatives.
At it’s heart the event provided a welcoming space for the young creatives of Bristol to connect, perform and share. Exploring how live performance can create spaces to interact, Make Space For Rising exhibited work throughout our foyer and also offered opportunities for audience members to leave their creative mark themselves.
Performances from local artists included Leeza Awojobi, Charles Tha Dancer, SEPH Group, Amber-Ruth Watson and DJ Adibah as well as visual art by Stacey Olika, Zezima, Parys Gardener, Kiamaco, Lucy Turner, Abbi Bayliss and Jade Ayino.
The takeover of the space and free movement of the audience allowed for Rising’s creativity to fill every brick, tile, and groove of Bristol Beacon. Capturing the heart of the #MakeSpaceForMusic campaign that introduced our 2021 re-brand that was developed in collaboration with Rising Arts Agency.
Make Space For Rising celebrated a journey of transformation, beautifully demonstrating the shared commitment to community.
Sophia Allison, Bristol Beacon Creative Producer
It’s a shame the festivities couldn’t last all night, however it will not be our last celebration of the talent, creativity, and community of the Young Creatives of this city.
