Evacuation Update - Sun 21 Jun 2026

Last updated: 15:15 Tue 23 Jun 2026

On Sunday 21 June, Bristol Beacon was evacuated as a precaution following a damaged gas main near the venue.

A police cordon was put in place around the venue, closing Colston Street, Pipe Lane and Trenchard Street from approximately 2:40pm until 8:00pm.

As the cordon remained in place into the evening, we made the difficult decision to cancel that night’s performances by Arooj Aftab & London Contemporary Orchestra and Michel Padron’s Afro Cuban Orchestra. This decision was made in the interests of the safety of our audiences, artists and staff, and because the ongoing disruption meant the performances could not go ahead as planned.

Unfortunately it’s not been possible to reschedule Arooj Aftab & London Contemporary Orchestra or Michel Padron’s Afro-Cuban Orchestra. Customers have been contacted about refunds for these events.

Bristol Beacon is now open and all future events will take place as planned.

It is expected that Colston Street will remain closed to traffic for at least another week whilst repairs to the gas main are carried out.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Updated: 17:52 Sun 21 Jun 2026

We are sorry to announce that tonight’s concerts with Arooj Aftab & London Contemporary Orchestra and Michel Padron’s Afro Cuban Orchestra have been cancelled.

Due to a damaged gas main, parts of the city centre including Bristol Beacon have been evacuated and travel to the area is not advised.

As the police cordon is likely to remain in place for some time, we unfortunately cannot proceed with tonight’s events.

Ticket holders will be contacted by email and are advised to hold on to their tickets as we are working hard to find rescheduled dates for these concerts to take place.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
