We are thrilled to share the news that our Oak National Academy Primary Music Curriculum has been shortlisted in the 2027 Music & Drama Education Awards in the category for Outstanding Music Education Resource!
Created in partnership by Bristol Beacon and Amplify Education (formerly Cathedral Schools Trust), the free Oak National Music Curriculum launched in 2025 to support inclusive and joyful music education for every primary pupil. To date it is used in approximately 1500 schools across the country.
This curriculum is for primary teachers, school leaders and anyone committed to ensuring every child can make, share and enjoy music. It supports pupils to develop their musicianship through singing, listening, composing and performing, while nurturing creativity, wellbeing and a lifelong connection to music. Content is carefully sequenced and wide-ranging, reflecting diverse musical traditions, genres and voices, and exploring music’s role in storytelling, identity and social change.
Thanks to Bristol Beacon’s unique role as a music education hub based in a concert venue, it was able to draw on its extensive network of world-class artists and organisations to help bring the curriculum to life – with contributors including the Royal Ballet & Opera, Paraorchestra, National Children’s Orchestra, beatboxer and vocal artist Jason Singh, composer and sitar player Jasdeep Singh Degun, composer Debbie Wiseman, London Symphony Orchestra, musician and author Professor Nate Holder and more.
The Music & Drama Education Awards celebrate the extraordinary contribution made by practitioners, schools, charities and other organisations to the lives of children, young people and adults across the UK.
