The Five Counties SCITT, Cathedral Schools Trust, Cabot Learning Foundation and Bristol Beacon are excited to introduce a new, innovative and ground-breaking Primary (5-11) with Music specialism teacher training programme, a route for those interested in primary teaching and music education.
During this course, you will develop your knowledge about teaching music and creating opportunities for children to sing and enjoy music making, with unique opportunities for you and your placement school to engage with musicians and performance through the partnership with the Bristol Beacon.
Through this route, you can begin a career as a primary teacher that makes a difference. By the end of this course, you will be recommended for qualified teacher status (QTS) enabling you to teach in a primary school.
A combination of weekly centre-based training and school-based experience working alongside expert teacher educators in the Five Counties SCITT will give you an excellent start to your teaching career. You’ll develop knowledge and skills that you will apply in your placement school with the support of your mentor and other teacher colleagues.
Successful completion leads to the award of QTS and the opportunity to gain Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with 60 Master’s level credits.
This is delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University who deliver face-to-face training at the SCITT in Bristol and provide online tutor support.
Enrolment open now for September 2025.
