Arve Henriksen

Places of Worship

Commissioned by Opera North, this landmark sound + vision project features Norwegian trumpeter/soundscape artist Arve Henriksen and his long-term musical collaborators Eivind Aarset (guitar) and Jan Bang (electronics) as they perform to a film by the video artist Anastasia Isachsen, mapped live onto the walls of St George’s. Inspired by religious buildings and ruins, Henriksen’s 2013 album Places of Worship has in turn served as the inspiration for Isachsen’s beautiful and evocative visuals, expressly designed for a setting such as this.
