The Bristol Schools Summer Concerts have been a mainstay of the summer music programme in Bristol for over 50 years, and Bristol Plays Music took over running the series in 2016.
This year’s event is a celebration of literature in music, with over 1500 children performing over three nights on stage at Colston Hall. The programme ranges from well-known songs from literary musicals such as Matilda and Mary Poppins to newer works by contemporary composers and artists including Eric Whitacre and children’s laureate Julia Donaldson.
Supported by a five-piece band, a taiko drumming group, a choral speaking ensemble and including some unique surprises from our fantastic schools, the BSSC 2017 promises to be an unforgettable event.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon.
