Jazz ensemble Dinosaur is one of the most hotly anticipated acts of this year’s festival. Led by award-winning trumpeter, composer and BBC New Generation Artist for 2015–2017, Laura Jurd, Dinosaur is taking the global jazz scene by storm.
With her joyous spirit and undeniably unique approach to making music, Jurd has developed a formidable reputation as one of the most inventive young improvising musicians to emerge from the UK in recent years. Dinosaur’s debut album, Together as One, released in 2016 to international acclaim, features Jurd’s longtime friends and collaborators keyboardist Elliot Galvin, electric bassist Conor Chaplin and drummer Corrie Dick.
These extraordinary young musicians have been playing together for six years and share improvisational intuition and a wide range of influences from folk to rock to jazz to minimalism. Their sound is fresh, inspired and all set to make some serious waves around the world.
