Finzi’s fascination with Thomas Hardy’s poetry led to one of the most important contributions to twentieth-century British song.An existential melting pot, questions of eternity, mind and matter, feelings of silliness, regret and joviality are all on show with sweeping variety for voice and piano.

Finzi’s masterpiece is brought to life by rising star Edmund Danon, an alumnus of the National Opera Studio and Royal Academy of Music.
