In Session With: Elliott Randall

Bristol International Jazz & Blues Festival

Tips and tricks from Steely Dan’s premier guitarist.

Legendary session guitarist and original member of Steely Dan, Elliot Randall takes you on a journey through what it takes to be a professional in this day and age. This masterclass will be full of tips and tricks of the trade – how to work in an ensemble, focusing on what Elliott describes as the “philosophy of appropriateness” – the best use of your guitar, amp and effects – effective practice regimes and how to use social media to further your career. There will also be a Q&A session chaired by Guitarist magazine editor Jamie Dickson and, of course, lots of playing!

Suitable for all levels and abilities.

Workshop tickets include a complimentary ticket to concerts in the main auditorium or 50% off Lantern concerts.

Elliott Randall was part of the original Steely Dan line-up. To this day, his guitar solo on ‘Reelin’ In The Years’ is seen as an innovative and groundbreaking achievement. A must-see for all fans of supercharged blues guitar.
