Ishmael Ensemble

Present an intro to Yellow Magic Orchestra

In February last year, multi-instrumentalist and producer Ishmael (Pete Cunningham) launched his six piece ensemble, and “a remarkable exploration into free form jazz” (Cone). Their debut LP ‘Songs For Knotty’ has been praised by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft and Dan Digs. Performing tripped-out jazz and hypnotic electronica live in The Lantern, expect “a blend of Pharaoh Sanders, John Coltrane and Cinematic Orchestra” (Worldwide Playlist).

For this show Ishmael Ensemble will be re-imagining the iconic and boundary pushing Yellow Magic Orchestra album “Technodelic” with live visuals provided by animator Amie Nowlan.
