Jonathan James – ‘History of Classical Music in 50 minutes’

In the ‘History of Classical Music in 50 minutes’, Jonathan James gives a  whistle-stop tour of the main eras of music, from medieval to modern. You’ll hear ‘Frère Jacques’ in many different guises, join the dots between hairstyles and musical textures and come away with a new understanding of how we got from chants in monasteries to epic symphonies. Demonstrated, as usual, from the piano, with plenty of audiovisual illustrations, this fast-paced talk is for novices and seasoned listeners alike.

“Very enjoyable and informative – an excellent balance of entertainment and thought-provoking ideas!”
