The LA-based composer makes “effervescent, kaleidoscopic electronic music” (Pitchfork) on the rare modular system of the Buchla 100 synthesizer. Taking inspiration from the psychedelic electro-pioneers of the sixties, Smith sculpts lush and exciting worlds of sound that feel “at once like a statement from a bygone era and a transmission from a distant star” (RA).

For these special shows at Bristol’s former IMAX cinema, Smith performs her latest release The Kid, against a super-sized backdrop of visuals created by director and animator Sean Hellfrisch, for the very first time projected onto the mind-bendingly huge screen.
