Leafcutter John + Sugai Ken

Colston Hall Presents at The Exchange

Since 2010 “one of the UK’s most fearlessly inventive electronicists” (Time Out London) John Burton (aka Leafcutter John) has developed a ground-breaking light controlled musical interface that is played by manoeuvring handheld lights.

Part of Mercury Prize-nominated experimental jazz band Polar Bear, his plethora of electronic inspiration has awarding him collaborations with a diverse range of artists from Beck to Yo La Tengo to Otomo Yoshihide and confirmed him as “one of the bourgeoning stars of post-electronica” (The Wire).

Joining John in this double bill of experimental electronica is Japanese artist Sugai Ken with his melodic compositions of evolving sound design that weave Steve Reich-like forms with Japanese rituals and tradition.

This is a standing Colston Hall Presents event at The Exchange.
Ages 14+ (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)
