Robin Nolan is a true original. Described as a musical genius by friend the late, great George Harrison, Nolan and his Trio are international superstars in the world of gypsy jazz. Inspired by his hero Django Reinhardt but frustrated in his early career by the reams of red tape required to perform in London’s streets, Nolan and his band packed up and headed for Amsterdam, where they experienced far greater artistic freedom. Amsterdam also set the scene for a chance encounter that would link Nolan to Harrison.
Two decades on and Nolan is signed to the Harrison family label, HOT Records Ltd, on which he released his acclaimed album, Gypsy Blue, in 2013. The Robin Nolan Trio, comprising British guitarist Chris Quinn and Dutch bassist Arnoud Van Den Berg, have headlined every major gypsy jazz festival in the world and regularly perform at sold-out shows.
“In these days of cacophony it’s great to hear some proper music.” – George Harrison
