Sweet Baboo

Sweet Baboo, aka North Wales native Stephen Black, came to the public’s attention when his third album, ‘I’m a Dancer/Songs About Sleeping’, was nominated for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize in 2011. Over the last few years, Sweet Baboo has played at Latitude, Green Man Festival, SXSW and The Camden Crawl, and has recorded sessions for BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley, Huw Stephens and Stuart Maconie.

Black has played on albums by Cate Le Bon, Slow Club and H. Hawkline, and has been a regular part of the touring line-up for all three bands. He has also performed with and produced Euros Childs, The Pictish Trail, The Voluntary Butler Scheme, Islet and Spencer McGarry Season and collaborated onstage and in the studio with Gruff Rhys. In between world tours, Black found time to record his fourth full-length album, a concept album about the sea which is tentatively titled Ships, with long time collaborator The Voluntary Butler Scheme.

Pictish Trail

From a static caravan up on the remote isle of Eigg, tucked away within the inner Hebrides of Scotland, Johnny Lynch, aka The Pictish Trail, runs DIY label and collective Lost Map (formerly Fence Records). As well as producing countless mini-albums, EPs and assorted LPs of self-professed ‘wonky-pop’ material under his Pictish Trail moniker, he’s collaborated with a plethora of the greatest songsmiths across these fair lands, including James Yorkston, Malcolm Middleton, King Creosote, KT Tunstall and Adem (with whom he formed electro-pop powerhouse, Silver Columns).

His innovative, genre-defying approach has seen him mentioned in the same breath as his heroes Beck, The Beta Band and Hot Chip. Ibn 2013 he joined the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Franz Ferdinand and Charlotte Gainsbourg as part of the line-up for Beck’s Song Reader live concert in London.
