Blurring the lines between traditional Celtic tunes and popular music, The East Pointers bring their “smart maritime folk” (The Guardian) to The Folk House in June. The Canadian Folk Music Award-winning trio will sail in from the distant coasts of Prince Edward Island with a chest full of fiddles, banjos, guitars and foot-stomping rhythms, to dazzle you with their virtuoso instrumental work.

The East Pointers

Fiddler and singer Tim Chaisson, banjoist Koady Chaisson and guitarist Jake Charron have spent the last two years touring Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia in support of their JUNO Award winning album, Secret Victory. In 2016, they won ‘Touring Artist of the Year’ at the Music PEI Awards and ‘Ensemble of the Year’ at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Their sophomore album, What We Leave Behind, was produced by songwriter/producer Gordie Sampson and released in September 2017. What We Leave Behind carves a new path for The East Pointers, as they continue to blur the lines between traditional and popular music and develop a devoted fanbase around the globe.

Kit Hawes and Aaron Catlow

Best known as the virtuoso guitar and fiddle players from the band Sheelanagig, Kit Hawes and Aaron Catlow draw on their many influences to created unique arrangements of traditional music, as well as their own compositions. Their live shows are a musical journey through Europe, America and beyond, combining dazzling playing with a fine sense of musicality and showmanship.
