Rediscover ‘A Place for Everyone’ and explore stories, music and memories of Bristol Beacon, contributed by Bristol people.

This exhibition is an aural and visual work created by artist Matt Booker and historian Tot Foster, capturing over 150 years of Bristol Beacon’s heritage and history.

Inspired by interviews and reportage illustrations as part of an Oral History project in 2018, this artwork features personal memories, stories, music and provides a snap shot of the unique role the Hall has played in Bristolian lives over the years.

About the Exhibition

Now transformed for a new generation, Bristol Beacon has been a focal point in the lives of Bristolians, showcasing big musical acts and local talent , alongside an eclectic programme of other events including wrestling, political rallies, beauty pageants, and community events.

In 2018-19, oral historian Tot Foster met and spoke with Bristol’s communities who gave voice to very individual and personal stories of their memories of Bristol Beacon. Alongside 40 specially commissioned illustrations by artist Matt Booker, the exhibition “A Place for Everyone” provided a snap shot of the unique role the Hall has played in people’s lives over the years.

This exhibition brings together all of those illustrations into an entertaining, intriguing and personal portrait of the heritage and history of our venue.
