We LOVE stories at Hoo-Ha! Festival, and if you are too then you’re in for a story-tastic treat with our book readings and workshops.
Join author and illustrator Gwen Millard from midday on Friday for a reading of her heartwarming picture book Tiger Lily followed by a drawing session where children can create their very own ROARSOME companions.
Robert Starling will be joining Gwen to read from his collection exciting stories including his debut Fergal is Fuming! and many of his other favourite characters he loves to doodle.

About the authors
Gwen Millward
Gwen Millward is an award-winning children’s author and illustrator. She is best known for her illustrations in Jeanne Willis’s best selling picture books The Bog Baby and The King Of Tiny Things.
She has illustrated over 40 books for children and also written several of her own including Tiger Lily.
Robert Starling
Robert started doodling characters when he was little, and just kind of kept going, filling paper, sketchbooks and school exercise books along the way. His books have been translated into twenty languages, and his debut, Fergal is Fuming!, was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Award.
A former teacher, he now enjoys running workshops, talks and writing sessions. He thinks that kids have got a pretty good idea of how things ought to be, and adults have a lot to learn from them. When he’s not drawing, he can be found doing daddy duties, trying to bake a sponge that doesn’t look like a pancake, or popping the kettle on.
