Dance is at the heart of this tour de force performance from Bristol’s finest orchestra.
Bizet’s Carmen Suite has elegance, drama and exoticism. Hear the marches of the Toreadors, the actions of the bullfighters, and the striking dances including the Habanera and Carmen’s Bohemian dance. Korngold’s epic violin concerto bustles with dancing virtuosity, changing meter and a galloping finale.
The centrepiece is Dvorak’s lyrical and sunny eighth symphony, drawing its inspiration from the Bohemian music that he loved. The Slavic landscape and traditional folk dances give vibrancy to the symphony which includes one of the most famous waltzes in classical music.
