Hiss Golden Messenger

+ Bobby Lee

Whilst Hiss Golden Messenger’s songwriting is wistful and reflective it’s also imbued with a sanguine radiance.

The musical moniker of M.C. Taylor, Hiss Golden Messenger’s sound blends American folk and country traditions with rich soulful intonations.

With a prolific output over the past half-decade, last year Taylor released his latest album Quietly Blowing It.

Featuring Nashville legend Buddy Miller, acclaimed songwriter and playwright Anais Mitchell, and multi-instrumentalist Josh Kaufman, this record comprises Taylor’s most considered and poignant yet.

“Rarely do songwriters who release original music so often manage to make each release feel as necessary as Taylor — And no Hiss Golden Messenger record has ever felt more necessary than his new LP, Quietly Blowing It.”

Support from

Bobby Lee

Bobby Lee trades in a wide screen brand of cosmic country-folk, full of space and
pawn shop guitars. There are touches of JJ Cale’s analogue Americana, the
swampy groove of Tony Joe White and Richard Thompson’s sinewy, modal guitar
work. Amps hum in the warm afternoon sun, kids and dogs snooze on the grass
and broken drum machines keep time with the universe…
