Are you a new music lead?  Has your school recently appointed a new music lead? Are you looking for support with leading music even more effectively at your school?

In this session, designed to support non-specialists as well as more musical teachers alike, we aim to equip you with everything you need to make your school’s music offer achievable and robust.  We will unpick what it means to have a golden thread of learning throughout your music curriculum as well as support you to ensure music is taught successfully in each year group.  We’ll also make sure you have a great new song and fun warm-up to use in school the next day!

What you will gain from the session:

  • Help with writing your Music Development Plan (the DfE would like all schools to have this) including templates adaptable for your setting (please bring a laptop/tablet if possible).
  • Develop your knowledge and confidence in ensuring there is clear music progression across the whole school.
  • A broad range of ideas to support and develop the music culture in your school.
  • Network of like-minded music subject leads across Bristol.
  • A clear understanding of how Bristol Beacon – your Music Education Hub (appointed by Arts Council England and DfE) – is placed to support you and your pupils throughout the year.
