Oak Primary Music Curriculum Training for Music Leads & Teachers

Lantern Hall

Free but ticketed

Whether you are considering adopting the Oak National Academy Music Curriculum, or have already begun using the resources – this free training is for you.

If you’ve not yet explored the Oak Primary Music Resources, but are looking for a solid, carefully sequenced, and free music curriculum to use in your setting – then this will be valuable training.

Many teachers and music leads tell us that they don’t necessarily have the confidence to lead singing or classroom instrument playing, to sing in parts, or to get (m)any instruments out.

This training is an active, singing and playing session to give you as music leads the skills to not only lead these lessons, but, importantly, the tools, confidence and resources to disseminate these skills to your staff – whether in a staff meeting or through continued support.

The session will focus on:

• Leading singing and instrument playing games at KS1

• Leading whole class singing and instrument ensembles for KS2

• How to successfully use the Oak National Academy Primary Music Curriculum (DfE funded, free for the nation)

If you or teachers you speak to in your setting are nervous of how to manage a class with multiple groups doing different musical activities, or when there could be many instruments out… this CPD addresses all of this!

Format: Unreserved seating

About Oak National Academy Primary Music Curriculum

The Oak National Academy Primary Music Curriculum is a free, high-quality programme designed to support inclusive, joyful and ambitious music education for all primary pupils.

Created in partnership by Bristol Beacon and Cathedral Schools Trust, the curriculum offers a clear, progressive pathway for teaching music from Years 1–6. It supports pupils to develop their musicianship through singing, listening, composing and performing, while nurturing creativity, wellbeing and a lifelong connection to music.

Designed with teachers in mind, the curriculum provides ready-to-use lesson resources alongside guidance that supports planning, classroom delivery and curriculum development. Content is carefully sequenced and wide-ranging, reflecting diverse musical traditions, genres and voices, and exploring music’s role in storytelling, identity and social change.
