Primary Orchestra Workshop - Summer 2025

Lantern Hall

Enrol

Free, but ticketed

In this workshop for music educators and their young musicians, we bring together young players of all abilities from across the city, to create an unforgettable orchestral experience.

Our Primary Orchestra Workshops are a thrilling afternoon for children who are learning to play an instrument.  Three pieces of music from film, theatre and orchestral repertoire are musically arranged for children from beginner to experienced.  These differentiated arrangements are sent to schools weeks before the workshop day so that children have opportunity to spend time on these pieces with their tutor. This hugely enjoyable day brings over 100 children from across the city to play as a symphony orchestra.  Specialist tutors work with each orchestral section to support each child to feel more confident with the music they’re playing.  A celebration of the children’s work forms the last part of this afternoon when the pieces are performed to parents and carers. This workshop adds so much value and purpose to small-group instrumental tuition and brings children’s musical learning to life on a huge scale!

What you will gain from the session:

  • Develop pupils’ skills and confidence
  • Give students performance experience with musicians from across the city
  • Bring music lessons to life giving young people orchestral experience
