Frequently Asked Questions

Which part of Lantern Hall sounds the best?

Lantern Hall is small chapel-like hall with a high ceiling. The natural acoustics are perfect for voice and small unamplified ensembles. Acoustic drapes and other fittings have been carefully designed and selected to change the acoustic characteristics of the room for amplified music.

Performances will sound excellent wherever you are in Lantern Hall. To appreciate sound closest to the performer for unamplified music, we recommend seats on the flat floor.

Which seat in Lantern Hall offers the best view of the stage?

Lantern Hall is a relatively small performance space with no physical obstructions to sight lines of the stage. Seats on the flat floor are available nearest the stage. Retractable bleacher seating (bench style raised seating) is available at the back of the Hall, this will give you a view that overlooks the stage.

For events with a standing format, the performance area can be raised to give a clearer view of the stage.

Will there be enough leg room?

Our restored Lantern Hall has larger seats and more leg room to prioritise comfort for most people.

Are seats available for standing shows?

Yes. For standing shows in Lantern Hall seats are available on request.
