ARQ combines richly nuanced compositions, rhythmic interplay and folk-infused melodies; this, along with their love of improvisation, creates a strong sense of narrative and a cinematic quality.
Led by bassist and composer Alison Rayner the multi award-winning quintet play ‘songs without words’ and are lauded for their vibrant, communicative performances. The band features edgy guitar from Dierdre Cartwright (host of BBC’s Rock-school) and the amazing keyboard sounds of Steve Lodder, a former close collaborator with Andy Sheppard. Alison and Deirdre have been musical companions for many years; from the awesome all-girl-power jazz-rock outfit, The Guest Stars to founding the Blow the Fuse organisation.
ARQ recorded their new album in June and are heading to Bristol in January to perform tracks from the album live in our atmospheric Lantern Hall.

Location: Lantern Hall is located within Bristol Beacon. Head to Level 1 and follow signs to find the auditorium.

Spaces for wheelchair users are available within the first 10 rows on the flat floor of the Hall.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs and emotional support animals are allowed in the performance space. Seats in rows AA-J on the flat floor are most suitable. If you prefer, you can leave your animal with a member of staff during the performance.
Hearing Facility
