We are excited to welcome back the BBC Proms – the world’s greatest classical music festival – for a third residency this August.

This year, Bristol Beacon will host five concerts including the RPS-Award winning Paraorchestra and Charles Hazlewood with Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra with conductor Adam Hickox and a programme including Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 and Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances.

A special live edition of BBC Radio 3’s jazz show ‘Round Midnight, celebrating legendary saxophonist John Coltrane visits Lantern Hall and we welcome the Proms debut of National Open Youth Orchestra with a Relaxed Prom including the world’s first clarion concerto and Charlotte Harding’s The Orchestra: A Young Person’s Guide.

Finally, soprano Anu Komsi and violinist Sakari Oramo – better known as Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra – round off the weekend celebrating György Kurtág’s 100th birthday year with his Kafka Fragments.

Meanwhile up the road at St George’s Bristol, Tenebrae performs the Proms premiere of Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles under founding conductor Nigel Short.
