Brahms and Fauré: Trio Masterpieces

with Poppy Beddoe, Roelof Temmingh and Angus McCall

Former Artist-in-Residence, clarinettist Poppy Beddoe makes a blazing return to the festival she calls home, this time with rising stars South African pianist Roelof Temmingh and Belfast-born cellist Angus McCall. The dynamic ensemble performs Fauré’s much loved Piano Trio, in this the 100th anniversary of his death, and showcases a masterpiece of chamber music, Brahms’s Clarinet Trio in A minor.

Brahms’ trio, composed in 1891, marks a significant moment in his rebirth as a composer having ‘retired’ just a year earlier before returning with renewed vigour. From tender, lyrical passages to energetic and impassioned themes, the Brahms trio transports the listener through the full range of emotions, making it a beloved favourite of chamber music enthusiasts everywhere.
