Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Caroline Rose creates cinematic pop music that maintains a feeling of grandiosity while still being inherently vulnerable and self-aware – with her previous albums ‘Loner’ and 2020’s ‘Superstar’ satirising the toxicity of celebrity culture, alongside candid and introspective reflections of the world around her and affirmations of self-worth.
Where ‘Superstar’ firmly established the New York artist’s ambitious perspective, new track “Love / Lover / Friend” is about the “the experience of commitment and the confusing dance that takes place finding your roles within it”, according to the writer/producer, and is a sonic departure from her last album.
Rose experimented with DIY tape effects and different recording techniques, leading to a discovery of a palette of new sonic textures and allowing the artist to oscillate between classical and avant-garde elements and low and high-fidelity textures.

“Rose is a sharp songwriter who realizes the thematic richness lies in the details – modern pop that lies halfway between the mainstream and retro nostalgia, emphasizing uncomfortable emotions over temporary pleasures.”
