Dur-Dur Band International revive the joyful, groove-driven sound of the legendary Somali group who helped define East Africa’s funk scene in the 1980s.
Formed by original members including bassist Abdillahi “Ujerry” and featuring vocalist Fadumina Hilowle, the London-based eight-piece celebrates the vibrant legacy of Somali funk with a repertoire of classic hits and new arrangements.
Today the revived ensemble brings that infectious spirit back to the stage, delivering irresistible rhythms and a powerful celebration of Somali musical heritage.

Diaspora! is an arts festival for Bristol and the South West, which aims to showcase and better reflect the variety of talent within the region’s cultural communities. Developed by the Diverse Artists Network (DAN), the festival will platform artists from underrepresented cultural backgrounds.

Location: Lantern Hall is located within Bristol Beacon. Head to Level 1 and follow signs to find the auditorium.

Trenchard Street multi-storey car park is 200m away, directly behind Bristol Beacon.

Most bus services stop in and around the city centre promenade, 250m from Bristol Beacon.

Spaces for wheelchair users are available within the first 10 rows on the flat floor of the Hall.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs and emotional support animals are allowed in the performance space. Seats in rows AA-J on the flat floor are most suitable. If you prefer, you can leave your animal with a member of staff during the performance.
Hearing Facility
