Bristol Youth Choir presents: Choral Soundscapes

An immersive vocal experience

Beacon Hall

Book Tickets

£4.00 - £7.00

A large group of singers wearing formal attire and holding songbooks perform on stage, singing together. The image is stylistically edited as a purple and blue duotone, with a white background.

Be immersed in the sumptuous soundscape of 200 singers from Bristol Youth Choir and Alumni, in this choral organ epic.

Featuring programme favourites from over the years, including music by Bach, Purcell, Bruckner, Fauré, Duke Ellington, Rutter, Chilcott, Esther Bersweden and Toby Young, the evening will also unveil a striking new commission by revered classical and contemporary composer, Anna Appleby.

Anna Appleby’s new piece Wide World: A Song for Bristol is a celebration of Bristol – its ethos and atmosphere, its landmarks and history. You might notice the Harbourside, Gloucester Road, Cabot Tower, the Downs, and the Balloon Fiesta. The lyrics are based on ideas contributed by the youth choirs, naming their favourite aspects of living in the city, including its welcoming sense of community to people from many different backgrounds. The music was composed with the Bristol Beacon building and Britton organ in mind, as well as the joys of singing together!

This spellbinding performance also invites the audience to get up close to the action and experience the ethereal soundscape of being immersed in the choir with performers all around.

This massed choir unites singers aged 9 – 18 from Upper and Lower Voices, Juniors and Intermediates, alongside Bristol Youth Choir Alumni, in addition to exceptional scholars from The Britton Organ Scholarship scheme.

So come, let yourself be carried away by the rich harmonies in this sea of young voices, and witness the majestic power of the Britton Organ.

This is not one to miss.
