A conductor and orchestra made up of mostly young people.

Calling all brass, string, woodwind, Clarion and percussion players aged 7 – 11!

Don’t miss our Massive Come and Play Workshop delivered in partnership with our lovely friends at National Children’s Orchestras.

Come be part of a mass ensemble of over 200 young players as we learn together some fun body percussion pieces as well as popular classics!

Whether you’re a beginner at your instrument, or an accomplished player, everyone is welcome. This friendly morning session will culminate in a free sharing for all to enjoy on the Beacon Hall stage.

Please note that workshop booking will close Sun 31 May and young players must have been having music lessons since Sep 2025 to attend (this does not have to have been through Bristol Beacon!). Music for the day will then be sent in advance via email to all bookers in June.

NCO welcome around 900 young musicians aged 8-14 to take part in non-auditioned Orchestral Daysauditioned Orchestral Weekends and auditioned Orchestral Weeks around the UK every year, with new activities in the southwest available for young musicians to take part in, in 2027.
