A person wearing a black suit and shirt is looking at the camera whilst sitting at an organ.

Following a 19-month restoration, Bristol Cathedral’s organ returns in full glory, celebrated by internationally acclaimed organist David Briggs.

Renowned for his virtuosity, musicality, and inventive transcriptions of orchestral works, David brings music spanning five centuries to life, demonstrating the full capabilities of the Cathedral’s magnificent instrument.

Known as a master improviser, he also performs live accompaniments to silent films, transforming the space into a one-night-only cinema where music and image fuse in unexpected ways. A prolific performer and transcriber, David has appeared at venues including Royal Albert Hall, Notre-Dame Paris, Berlin Philharmonie, and King’s College, Cambridge, and serves as Artist-in-Residence at New York’s Cathedral of St John the Divine.

Audiences can expect a blend of technical brilliance, creativity, and dramatic storytelling in every note.

Mr. Briggs is one of our finest organists, and also a particularly good transcriber of orchestral works for his own instrument.
