A smiling person poses in front of a concrete backdrop. A swirling yellow graphic sits on top of the image.

This special Proms edition of Radio 3’s Late Junction welcomes guest artists, including Sarahsson, audio-visual artist Wojciech Rusin and composer, clarinettist and pianist Angel Bat Dawid.

These artists forged distinctive musical paths, offering a late-night listening swerve that takes a sharp left off the beaten track.

From the music of after-hours Tokyo to Somalian disco, and from guest playlisters to the world’s smallest LP, made for Queen Mary’s dolls’ house, Radio 3’s Late Junction has been home to the adventurous listener for over 25 years.

Verity Sharp

Verity grew up among animals on the Blackdown Hills, dreaming of becoming a vet—until music took hold. After studying at the University of York, she produced Pebble Mill’s Music Machine and fronted BBC2’s Culture Show. A founding voice of Late Junction and a Proms regular, she’s also narrated for the British Museum and Tate. Now based in Wiltshire, Verity balances a love of music with horticulture, wildlife gardening, and the quiet beauty of ancient landscapes.

Wojciech Rusin

Wojciech Rusin is a London-based Polish audio-visual artist known for blending ancient traditions with modern technology. Inspired by gnostic texts, early choral music, and Slavic myth, he creates experimental soundscapes using self-designed, 3D-printed reed instruments. His albums include Syphon (2022, AD 93), The Funnel (2019, Akashic), and releases on Café OTO and Boomkat. Rusin’s work has appeared on BBC Four and in collaborations with The National Theatre and Southbank Centre, exploring the ritual and theatrical in sound.

Sarahsson

Devon-born Sarahsson is a Bristol-based composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ blending classical, metal, experimental electronics, and folk. Her 2022 debut The Horgenaith explores femininity, transition, and synaesthesia. Known for dramatic live sets featuring her hand-carved Daxophone, she’s scored runway shows and films, including Nânt. Since 2020, she’s performed across Europe with artists like Lyra Pramuk and Nkisi, with standout shows at Rewire Festival, Volksbühne, and Berghain—where she wielded a 3D-printed bow shaped like a horse’s leg.
