Parents and their babies attend a workshop.

MAMA Coaching is bringing together mothers across the music industry in Bristol to discuss the barriers, the opportunities and the changes to their art, their work and their creative practice since having children.

Often self-employed or grant funded, there is little support offered to parents wanting to return to performing or a working life in the music industry – and many structural barriers and unhelpful assumptions in such a fast-paced and competitive sector.

This network will meet every two months in 2023 to build community, share experiences, collect wisdom and solutions, and celebrate successes with parents who are making it work for them. MAMA Coaching also aims to collect the knowledge shared and create the case for return-to-work support from venues, agencies, labels and management to be more inclusive and supportive of parents.

Building conversation and awareness is the first step, and this network aims to fulfil that need.
