A person wearing a suit and holding a flute with a city skyline and river behind them.

Join world-renowned flautist Nicole Mitchell for an evening of electrifying and exploratory jazz in Bristol. A visionary in the Afrofuturist movement, Nicole interweaves jazz, gospel, blues, and African percussion into a sound that is both evocative and deeply rooted in tradition.

She is joined by two of the UK’s most compelling improvisers—Mark Sanders, a drummer renowned for his dynamic sensitivity, and bass player Neil Charles whose Dark Days project celebrates the work of James Baldwin shows his affinity with Nicole’s approach to music.

Having developed an extraordinary musical rapport at European festivals, this trio promises an evening of bold, spontaneous creation. Witness three master musicians reimagining jazz in real time in our atmospheric Weston Stage.
