With his self-titled seventh album, American singer-songwriter Sam Amidon returns to the vast reservoir of folk music with fresh energy and a renewed enthusiasm for texture.

Working with frequent collaborators Chris Vatalaro, Leo Abrahams, and Shazad Ismaily, the “cool, commanding vitality” of the album has been hailed as “a revival in the truest sense” (Pitchfork).

Combining free jazz with avant-garde classical techniques, Amidon continues his stirring musical evolution that’s “characterised by songs which are not quite nu-folk, and not quite electronica, something harder to pin down but effortlessly alluring and charmingly addictive” (Folk Radio).
