An open rehearsal morning for players aged 11 to 18 (school years 7-13) interested in joining a Bristol Beacon ensemble.

On Saturday 5 July we are holding our Senior Centre Open Morning. This is your opportunity to come and experience what our Senior Ensembles are all about! Encompassing fun workshops, side-by-side playing and conducting workshops, this day is all about getting a taste of how much fun these ensembles really are.

There will be a play-through for Parents to watch at the end of the session.

We have four different ensembles:

Bristol Youth Orchestra – Grade 7+ – all symphonic instruments

Our flagship ensemble, for more advanced players Grade 7+. A full-size Symphony Orchestra that tackles standard repertoire, film music and bespoke compositions.

Bridge Orchestra – Grade 3+ – all instruments

Our ‘Bridge’ from Junior to Senior ensembles. Welcoming Strings, Wind, Brass and Percussion, this group performs music from film and TV, pop songs and classical repertoire. There is some crossover for more able players to Concert Band.

Chamber Orchestra – Grade 5-7 -Strings only

Chamber Orchestra is a string group focussing on mostly Classical repertoire with  a sprinkling of popular music. If you’re a violinist, violist, cellist or double bassist, this is the group for you!

Concert Band – Grade 5 -7 – Brass, Wind, & Percussion only

Concert Band is a wind and percussion ensemble, feeding from Bridge Orchestra. Playing a range of repertoire from pop to jazz to classical and everything in between!
