Oregon-born, Southern California-raised singer, songwriter and guitarist The White Buffalo – aka Jake Smith is embarking on a voyage of discovery. However, committing to the less travelled path in the name of reinvention is no easy feat – that’s where the new LP, ‘Year Of The Dark Horse’ comes in.
Out with the old, the organic, the expected the tried; in with the new – new producer, new studio, new location, no distractions, no looking back. “With this album, I wanted something outside of what I’ve ever done”, Jake confirms. “I wanted to open up. Do something dangerous. I’m hard to put into a singular genre as it is, but now I really wanted to take away any kind of preconception or pigeon-holing.
Over the years, Jake has built a second-to-none reputation for the emotional weight of his music, and here this core element dramatically underpins a body of work that allows the imagination of the listener to play an important part throughout, building on a tale of debauchery (of the drunken variety) and blame, of love and loss, a life lived against the odds, the whole thing set in one lunar year, following our anti-hero through the highs and lows of the seasons.

L.A. Edwards
L.A. Edwards (Luke Andrew Edwards) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Julian, CA. Formed in 2015 as a solo project after his tenure with the Smart Brothers, L.A. Edwards and his band of brothers have since recorded and released three studio albums and toured across the US and Europe supporting the likes of The Beach Boys and Jefferson Starship.
Their latest album, Out of the Heart of Darkness taps into the full range of human emotions and includes their widest instrumentation to date. From the haunting organ heard in Already Gone, to the barroom punk-and-circumstance of Let It Out, each of the songs is vastly different while fitting comfortably within the cohesive collection of songs.
