Mahler Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’ Anniversary Gala Concert

Beacon Hall

Book Tickets

£10.26 - £34.20 Incl. booking fee

A medium sized orchestra on stage.

Bristol Sinfonia is thrilled to celebrate its 30th anniversary year at Beacon Hall with their friends from City of Bristol Choir and Cardiff Polyphonic Choir.

The programme showcases the very best of orchestral and choral works from the 19th and 20th centuries. Poulenc’s Gloria is a vibrant opener to the concert that combines sacred grandeur with playful, unexpected harmonies. Its rich orchestration and lyrical soprano solos make this work a
celebrated masterpiece. Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, also known as the Resurrection Symphony, is a phenomenal work that explores themes of life, death and rebirth. The finale calls for full orchestral and choral forces, together with organ, that all combine to bring the work to a monumental and triumphant close.
