2003 saw the start of a love affair between one of the most extraordinary and best loved bands to come from the UK and fans all around the world – The Darkness, who exploded from their Lowestoft roots with the release of their debut album ‘Permission To Land’ granting them overnight success.
The album spawned a series of hit singles including ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, ‘Growing On Me’, ‘Get Your Hands Off My Woman’ and ‘Love Is Only A Feeling’. It also clocked up a series of awards including three BRIT Awards, two Kerrang Awards and an Ivor Novello for ‘Songwriters Of The Year’ amongst many others.
However the pressures of fame took their toll and in 2006 lead singer Justin Hawkins left the band, checking into rehab and The Darkness were no more. Yet, like a veritable phoenix rising from the ashes of despair, the band reformed in 2011 touring Europe and South America the following year with Lady Gaga. 20 years after their meteoric debut in 2003, their cheeky, spandex-clad anthems continue to probe and capture hearts around the world today.

Even within the realms of producing a polished, ready-for-radio debut LP, their scrappiness and DIY aesthetic shines through – bold, cathartic and a little rough around the edges, as it should be.

Most bus services stop in and around the city centre promenade, 250m from Bristol Beacon.

Spaces for wheelchair users are in:
- row S in the centre of the rear Stalls (10 spaces)
- row Z in the left and right wings at the back of Lower Tier (4 spaces, 2 on each side),
- rows G/H on the left only at the back of Upper Tier (2 spaces)
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs and emotional support animals are allowed in the performance space. Seats in row F are most suitable. If you prefer, you can leave your animal with a member of staff during the performance.
