Transforming Lyrics

A Rap and Drill Workshop

This event has passed

A person wearing sunglasses sits in front of a computer.

Rap, hip-hop and drill are powerful means of self-expression, but some lyrics glorify violence and reinforce harmful stereotypes.

This workshop, led by violence reduction specialist, Dayton Powell, empowers artists to create uplifting lyrics while retaining the raw energy of the form.

Each One Teach One (EOTOUK)

Tatiana and Dayton Powell formed The Community Action Group for Young People (CAG4YP) in response to a tragic incident within their community, subsequently forming the CIC Each One Teach One (EOTOUK) to address the pressing issues of gangs, crime, violence, and deprivation among young people, with a specific focus on the challenges faced by young black men and women in Bristol.

EOTOUK’s goal is to create a network that actively serves their community by intervening proactively and creating spaces where tragedies like the one that inspired their organisation no longer occurs.
