Welcome to Bristol Beacon
A symbol of hope and community. A focal point for music in the city. A gathering space, illuminating the way ahead. A place of welcome, warmth and light. An open invitation to the city for everyone to come and share in the joy of live music.
Formerly known as Colston Hall, since 1867 we have been at the heart of Bristol’s cultural life. We are so proud and grateful to have played such an important role in our city and the lives of our audiences for so long.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 we changed our name and began a new chapter as Bristol Beacon. Our purpose is to create unity and joy through live music. We believe in the power of music to break down barriers and cross boundaries, and we celebrate this in everything we do.
It will take some time to switch completely to our new name. We are currently working on a new logo and identity, as well as a new website, which we hope to launch in 2021.
In the meantime, to find out more about this momentous change, please visit our New Name page.
We are working hard to transform our venue into a world-class centre for music through a c.£50 million redevelopment programme.
Visit our Transformation pages to find out more about our project and how you can support us.
Musical journeys, from school to stage
We support life-long musical journeys, from school to stage. For now, all of our award-winning music education work in music centres and schools is provided through Bristol Plays Music. We will soon be uniting our education and performance work under one name: Bristol Beacon. Until then, you can find out more about what we do at bristolplaysmusic.org
Bristol Beacon is run by Bristol Music Trust, a registered charity (no. 1140898).
