Grieg, Saint-Säens and Sibelius at his sunniest: timeless melodies loved the world over.
Sibelius thought of his Second Symphony as a great river flowing to the sea, others have heard a musical portrait of a nation waking to freedom. From pastoral beginnings to a soul-stirring finish, it is music of elemental power, spring-like freshness and truly epic grandeur.
The RPO’s Finnish guest conductor, Emilia Hoving (something of a Sibelius expert), takes us on Sibelius’ journey today, and the unforgettable tunes of Grieg’s ever-popular music from Peer Gynt.
In between, expect elegance, ardour and a very French kind of romance, as International Tchaikovsky Competition For Young Musicians winner – and RPO Artist-in-Residence – Zlatomir Fung returns to play Saint-Saëns’ dashing First Cello Concerto. You’ll believe a cello can fly.

Hosted by music educator Jonathan James, these talks introduce the works in the programme, include interviews with members of the orchestras and illuminate the creative process.
Orchestral Ticket Prices
There are four price bands (Bands A-D) for each concert in the Orchestral Season 2023/24. A fifth price band (Premium) will apply to some concerts in the season.
Within price bands A-D, there are two types of ticket: Standard and Open Concession.
If you are under 26, there is a fixed ticket price available on a limited number of seats for every concert.

- row S in the centre of the rear Stalls (10 spaces)

Assistance dogs and emotional support animals are allowed in the performance space. Seats in row F are most suitable. If you prefer, you can leave your animal with a member of staff during the performance.
